The Carpentry and Joinery Department at this college is similar to many departments throughout the UK. It had a large wood dust extraction system to remove dust from machines however there was no provision for the cleaning of wood dust from floors and benches or from extracting from hand tools such as sanders and routers.
In response to this need, AES installed a C-VAC centralised vaccum system. The unit serves the whole carpentry and joinery department and features plug in points placed within each workshop area to allow students and staff to plug in floor/bench cleaning hoses and attachments. There is also the facility for portable tools to be plugged into the vacuum system at several designated points.
All wood waste is collected in a single filter collection unit which collects the waste in a 240l trolley mounted paper bag for safe changing and environmental disposal.
