AES Supply New Dust Extraction Systems to Historic Grain Mill
We have successfully completed the design and installation of new dust extraction systems for a historic grain mill in Dumfries & Galloway. The project proved to be an interesting exercise in LEV design with some unique challenges.
The grain mill is a working museum and visitors can view the mill in operation. During demonstrations, the mill staff tip grain from sacks into chutes and decant it in to hoppers. Both of these processes create clouds of grain dust, a substance which is harmful to health and can cause asthma.
The specification for the project was that all ductwork should be hidden from view and that the extraction hoods, which would be visible to museum visitors should not block the view or be mistaken for part of the original fittings.
